Hello my friends!

Are you looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow?

Here in British Columbia we are celebrating Family Day today. It is celebrated the third Monday of February in most Canadian provinces and the second Monday of February in BC. Since my husband works for a company located in Saskatchewan, he will be celebrating it next Monday home alone, as we all will be at work/school. Anyway, just a week ago I have shared our snowy and chilly weather with you , and now it looks so different outside! The sun is shining and it is getting really warmer during the day! No, the snow is not completely gone yet, but this picture was taken yesterday, and today there is only half left of it.

I was really scared to go outside and check our too-early gardening attempts, but when I removed the plastic cover from the raised bed, I was really surprised to see the tiny green onions standing like little soldiers there. Since there was some snow around the bed, but the bed itself felt a bit dry, I decided to add some of the snow inside instead of watering it. I hope if it is still sunny and warm in the coming days, the snow will melt, and the watering “mission” will seem to get accomplished 🙂 We also got some of the seedlings currently growing inside under the lights out to enjoy the sun and to start hardening them off.

And that was it for the gardening part of the day 🙂

We also needed to prepare some Valentine’s Day gifts for Alan to take to his friends at school tomorrow. I have been following Abby from Just a Girl and Her Blog for a while, and I really enjoy her blog! I think she can for sure call herself a “god-mother” of my blog, as she was the inspiration for me, and her encouraging and clear instructions on how to start a blog have really helped me to “push the buttons”. Literally. It is scary to push that ‘Publish’ button for the first time! I am so thankful to her for helping me, and I am sure many-many others, who probably have their own different reasons for blogging. Thank you Abby!

Anyway, back to the Valentine’s 🙂 Abby has many kinds of free printables available on her website, and I was so excited to find the Lego-Inspired Valentine’s printables now! I have printed them on the cardstock paper, cut them into individual cards and easy it was!

Alan was so happy to sign the cards.

Since we have purchased those big chocolate lolipops for gifts, we decided simply to put them altogether into small sandwich bags, and voila! A nice and easy Valentine’s gift is ready 🙂

We were going to buy a watermelon and cut it into heart-shaped pieces for kids snacks tomorrow (not my idea, but I do not remember now where I saw it). But at the end we forgot to get the watermelon, and I did not really feel like baking today. I will have to remember to do it next year though 🙂

What are your easy kids’ gifts and snacks ideas?
